Name of the KWS unit and brief History

Kuki Worship Service, Chennai (KWS-C).

KWS, Chennai was founded in December 2008. In the  beginning, as there were only few members, Prayer Meetings were used to be held in different houses. However, with the passage of time, the number of members  increased and the need to have a regular Fellowship was felt.  Therefore, on 8th December 2008, Advent Christmas Celebration was organised and KWS Bangalore, under the leadership of Pu DP Haokip, IRS came to  Chennai and hence KWS Chennai was then Established and Dedicated by Dr.Angam Haokip.

Approximate strength of membership

The present strength of the members of the fellowship is 250 (approx). As most of the members are employed or working in privates sectors, they are not able to attend the Sunday worship service and only about or less than 50% of the total members could attend the Sunday worship service regularly.

Address: Advent Christian Church, Old No. 373, New No. 880, Anna Salai, Saidapet, Chennai – 600015.

Timing: 3-6 PM, every Sunday

A brief account of the major activities of the fellowship/church

The fellowship is having/conducting regular worship service every Sunday. The fellowship also conducts various important ceremonies like Child Dedication, Marriages and Marriages confirmation, Baptism, etc. as and when required by the members.

The Fellowship is publishing a monthly bilingual magazine called “KOINONIA”

KWS-C is engaging a full time Evangelist.

Women Fellowship (main activities)

Women Ministry conducts Prayer Meetings once a month usually on the Fourth Sunday in various houses.

They also give Gifts to new born Children after they have been dedicated in the Church by the Pastor and to any of their members who entered into wedlock by Holy Matrimony.

Youth Department (major activities including praise and worship, choir, etc.)

As of now there is no Youth Department, but there is Worship Team for leading the Sunday worship service every Sunday.

Sunday school Department (syllabus, classes’ teachers, students’ strength, etc.)

We have two Sunday School Teachers for kids of around 5-10.

Right now, no specific syllabus is followed; but the Teachers led the kids in Bible Recitation, Memory Verse and Action Songs etc..

Church Building project give present status

KWS-C has separate Church Building committee consisting of Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. The committee explore every possible ways for enhancing the fund and there is constant progress for the same.As of now,the Committee had accumulated some few Lakh Rupees of Fund but right now there is no headway regarding purchase of Plots etc.

Types on networking with other fellowships and about participation in AIKWS events (Khanglai) in the past.

KWS-C sometimes organised a joint fellowship programme with other Churches. KWS-C also participated in AIKWS events like Khanglai 2014 that was held in Bangaore and also sent Representatives to AIKWS Conference held at. Shillong in Oct.2016.

The Executive members and Sub-Committee members of KWS-C are elected for a period or term of one year from April to March.through Election conducted by Election Commissioners.

So far the fellowship has not undertaken/done any selection of Pastor. However, the selection of Evangelist has been done by setting up an Evangelist Selection Committee.
